    Singlish? 

Singlish is colloquial English which is, broken and ungrammatical, sprinkled with words and phrases from local dialects and Malay.
Singlish is English corrupted by Singaporeans, thus making it a Singaporean dialect.

 

Examples of Singlish words:

1. Ah Chek - used as a term of respect for an old man. The corresponding feminine form is       Ah Soh

2. Ah Huay - refers to a chinese girl who has little dress sense. Male version is Ah Beng.

3. Botak - bald

4. Blur - confused

5. Chickenfeed - very easy

6. Chim - difficult (hokkien word for 'deep')

7. Makan - eat (malay)

8. Sian - very boring or bored

9. Towkay - boss ( chinese origin)

10. Ulu - rustic
